Nice greetings guys, I am a new guy on this forum, I come from a small and your neighbors Slovenia. In 2010, to visit your fly fishing rivers, rich in salmonids. My goal is to catch some grayling and brown trout. Therefore, we ask for an opinion on any river in your beautiful country to go. I enjoy the wonderful nature, so I prefer the clean, low river surrounded by unspoilt nature. The rest I want in a peaceful environment and afford a nice weekend with my girlfriend.

Please for any information on water levels, prices of the permits, weather conditions, in the middle of April.

I would be happy for any picture of the river, fishing.

Thanks for the advice!

Greetings from sunny Slovenia! Very Happy

Sense,

the fishing season has started in Austria already. Currently, most of the waters are open for yearly licenses only. However, as of 1 April, more waters will open for daily licenses all around Austria. I will be fishing the Salzburg area between 1 - 6 April (Fuscher Ache, Salzach) and 15-19 April in Slovenia (Soca, Sora and Idrijca). Except on the above mentioned days, I am free to meet with you and join you for a day or even a weekend. Just let me know which part of Austria interests you most. There are many waters in Austria that provide with excellent fishing for trout and grayling. However, if you want to try something unusual and excellent, I would suggest you visit the river Ager (administered by Roman Moser). It is well known for its capital Grayling, Trout, Lake Trout and the below part also for pikes.

Raj, I used to take guests to Braurup waters but unfortunately most of them were not happy with the choice. Simply, most of the waters (except few parts of Salzach, few streams and ponds require long drive, long walk and in most of the cases a lot of hiking as well. If you want to fish the most beautiful water of Krimler Ache, you need to drive almost 45 min and then walk between 1 to 2 hrs, depending the stretch of the river you want to fish. I would suggest you read the fishing package from the website where they describe the rules, waters and driving, walking & hiking duration for all of them. This information you can find at Braurup's website
