Hi all,
First off I just want to say I love the site. Been lurking and reading the fish tales for a while now. I've been making it a daily habit to check this site for new tales when I can. Hopefully I'll have a few of my own to add shortly.
I'll be heading up to Maine the week of Memorial day and was wondering if anyone can give me any hatch and fishing technique recommendations. I'll be staying in Bath and plan on giving the xxxxx and xxxxx a try. I fished the xxxxxx last year and got skunked. The water was extremely warm that day so I figured that accounted for the lack of feeding activity.
My primary target will be the beautiful brook trout, they've always been my favorite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris |

welcome to fliesandfins.com - glad to hear you like it. i will gladly point you in the right direction for a few places to try...simply private message me....maybe we can even fish together. i only ask one favor. please do not mention any locations of the places you have fly fished or even intend to fly fish. we pride ourselves on this sites ability to provide quality content and valuable information without directly or indirectly mentioning fly fishing locations. there is so much information that can be discussed through the fliesandfins.com forums and fish tales..ex. (what was used, fly fishing techniques, lessons learned.....) without disclosing locations.
So, I hope you understand our desire to protect the locations that some fly fishermen, including yourself, have spent many years finding and fly fishing. So, as I always do, I xxxxx'd out the mentionings of the locations you mentioned in your post. The internet is so much fun and a great way for people to meet - however, you would be surprised how an innocent mentioning of the locations you mentioned could potentially be the cause of overcrowding a fishery.
PLEASE - private message me and i will gladly help you out and maybe we can fly fish together. i am sure you will also find many other members that you will connect with - feel free to ask any questions and communicate around anything other than location. Hopefully, you will be able to write a "fish tale" after your trip to Maine....and when you come back next year the spots that you fly fish will remain just how you left them (in terms of numbers of people)
Thanks Chris - Welcome to fliesandfins.com - send me a PM |

Glad you joined the site. Great place for information. I have met and fished with some great people from this site. I have learned more techniques and experienced some new fishing that I would not have participated in.
Most of the trout fishing in the area you are visting is limited to stocked streams and ponds. Jeremy will give you the best technique advise. My best advise would be to drive further north for a better quality of trout.
Have fun. You can be sure our blackflies will be ready to welcome you as well |

Yeah usually my Maine trip is in September and all I have to deal with then is the Maine state bird(the Mosquito). Decided to try it early this season. Can't wait to be welcomed by the black flies.
This is definitely a great site for information as well as just looking at all the great videos and pics that are posted and reading about other folks fishing successes. |
