Headed to southern Louisiana for my 2nd bayou trip of the year. I really thought I was going to have to cancel this trip, but my cajun friends are wearing out the redfish, so it's time to head down with the buggy whip to chase some tails. I'm going to tie up a handful of my favorite redfish flies and head for the bayou.
What are your favorite redfish patterns?

Kingfisher:

I had excellent success with spoonflies for redfish. Although some don't consider them flies, they cast at least as well as clouser minnows and they certainly can resemble crabs.

More important, in my mind, is that the flies and fins readership would love to hear about your adventure to the Gulf. Please let us know how it goes. (The forums are a quick way to let us know - Fishtales are slower to appear.) I suspect that your success will help us all to know that the fishing is alive and well in the region (when you know where to go) and that the area remains a wonderful place to fish. This will encourage us to go ahead and travel there to fish and, in turn, to spend some money in the region that so dearly needs economic help. Thanks, in advance, and have a great trip!
