I have an orange colored fly line and I was wondering if it could scare away fish such as snook and redfish. I have seen most saltwater fly fisherman with a light blue line but the orange line was included with the combo so I kept it anyway. I have caught snook and other species with the orange line but I have always wondered if I could catch more with the blue line. It is an 8wt floating line too. If you have any suggestions for fly line for snook, redfish, and everything in between please add comments.

If you have spooky fish in clear water theyll blow out if they see the fly in the air. If youre casting at a red who has his face in the mud rooting for crabs he wont see it. It really just all depends on the fish and water clarity.

every fish is spooky, if you cast the line in its head it will be spooked, but why would you want to make it easier if you can make it with any fly line you want just having a good cast with practice, i am referring how didd all the grandpas that fished in the 50´s could fish some permit, bonefish? and they might were usingthe most notable material,,

I use a high-vis orange line as well and have'nt had any probs catching fish in the freshwater around here. Ive caught trout, bass, gills, gars, stripers, and Jacks (slatwater) all with the orange line. I have found that the key is have a long , 9ft, leader with another 18-24in of tippet. As far as brand goes, I use the Bass pro shop brand, which is made by a well known maker of fly lines and half to third the price of the big name ones. I use their lines on both my 8wt and my 5wt. I will use the same line set up on my trip to the Florida panhandle next week. Good luck to ya in choosing a line, hope this helps. Very Happy
