Don't know if any of u have ever tried for a sheep on the fly but if u enjoy cursing like a sailor an threatening to take ur own life sheepshead on the fly is for u. My local beach has a lagoon that branches off of it I've walked over the lagoons bridge a hundred times an seen these sheepshead a hundred times so I decided its time to land one on the fly so I had my #10 with me an I begin to take shot after shot being careful not to spookem an just minding my cast.I must have shown those fish my little crab fly at least 30 times nothing . I came back to the scene of the skunking with a putty knife an a #5 a few days later scraped barnacles an snails off a piling it got them going but they have got some skill at detecting bs. All in all awesome fun. have any of u done this before? I'm pretty sure I'm on point with my flie selection the help needed is all technical. How in the hell do u get the bastards to eat!

I read an article about this topic and the author says that if you want them to hit, you got to hit them on the tail. Instead of leading them, cast behind them and they will blindly take a fly with out hesitation. I plan to try this next week when I'm down in St Pete's Fla. Do a Yahoo, or Google search (sheepshead on the fly) and you will find the article, and articles

Dan.

I've since talk to a friend of mine who's a guide here in jupiter fl. an he pointed me in the right direction telling me Chumming is the right idea an that there are times they will take a fly an to keep an eye out for unpressured areas he explaind how frustrating they can be an equated it to catching a permit on the fly an said they can even be more frustating since the truly rely on scent an if somthing don't smell right well even I won't eat it . I am interested on trying the approch you mentioned I've done that to both snook an red fish an with both I have drawn reaction strikes it either works or blows them up but thanks for the insight dident think of that excited to try it good luck in st. Pete brother.
