|
|
| I'll be in Fort Lauderdale for an extended weekend starting thursday and want to take one of my fly rods. I've never fished the east side of florida, only the west with great luck. I won't have time for a guide as I'm doing the girl thing. I'm curious how much luck I would have in the surf at the crack of dawn. I'm thinking 8wt. Any thoughts and thanks. JF |

| Early in the morning and later in the evening are most likely your best bets. Water should be calmer at those times of day. Look for 'diving' birds and fish eating on or close to the surface. Should be some Jacks, snook, etc. around during the June-Aug timeframe. If you see a school of Jacks - you'll know it. The key is to get your fly in the middle or close to the feeding school - might require a little bit of running and waiting for the fish to get within casting range. Deceivers and Clousers of various sizes and colors should do the trick. Good luck. Let us know how you make out. |
