I just discovered this site and love the idea of meeting up with like minded fishaholics I can share my part of the country with (Colorado) and hopefully learn about theirs.

I travel all around the west for business and have been getting in my share of trout fishing (Utah, Idaho, and Montana mostly).

I would live to be shown the bounty of someones Steelhead water in the PNW. I travel to Eugene, Portland and Seattle but have never had a chance to chase Steelhead. Its not really something you just show up and do.

If you'd like to take an appreciative hardcore angler steelheading, and show him the ins and outs of this special quarry, I would be happy to buy dinner and definitely bring the beer.

Definitely a little different from the 7X and s#24 Griffith's gnat I was using on the Platte this weekend!

yo mjc I was on the S. Platte last Sunday in the drem stream section were you near there? I live in ME and am in CO about 2 to 3 times a year, you certainly have a great fishery out there. I have never fished for PNW steelhead but I do Fish for the great lakes steelies. I know jason -c fishes hard for NW steelies and has some good info on fiesandfinswest. Good luck this season and if you come out east try for the steel out here.

A Cloudy day - so I was in Cheesman hoping for a BWO hatch to materialize. All that happoened were the usually microscopic midges.

All sight casting- You rarely catch a fish you don't see first and you never catch a fish that sees you first- I love Cheesman

MC,

There are tons of good spots to steelhead fish in the PNW, unfortunately the cities you mentioned do not have steelhead waters very close by. The closet would be the Mckenzie which is not to far from Eugene. If you could stay over on a long weekend you should try to get a guide and head out to the lower deschutes. If you don't want to pay for a guide head over to westfly.com and try and talk one of the guy's into taking you out. I would take you but I'm new the steelhead game. Good luck, let me know how it turns out, this is the time to hooking steel.
