I fished last night in one of my usual haunts as I’m packing for a trip to the Gaspe peninsula, for some Atlantic Salmon fishing and was to wound up to go far. I started fishing down through a run and caught my first Brookie on a Bugmiester! Huge Golen stones and smaller yellow stones were coming off the rocks and after trying emergers and caddis and yellow Sallys, I used the Bugmiester. Body color was roughly the same as the large stones and I caught some nice fish. Hatches were heavy and all at once for several hours. Caddis, stones, mayflies of various types and spinners were #1 after dark. I was fishing quietly in the stream when someone yelled, You got a net? I turned and saw the Brookie in the picture coming toward me. Enter the disclaimer, not my fish. The guy that caught him I never saw until he yelled for the net, he had seen this fish and for an hour cast to him quietly, true stealth. Tomorrow we leave for the Gaspe area of Quebec, where Quebec Sporting has been kind enough to make all the arrangements for us for 8 days on numerous waters.
