I just spent a week in the Keys during a cold snap with high winds. Tom and his son Mark stood on the flats with me hoping for warm water, temps and Bones. The day before I left the winds subsided and the water started to warm, but not fast enough. We did see a lot of fish, just not on our fly. We caught Mangrove Snapper, some Barracuda and Jacks and a permit or two. Too early, too cold and too windy. I was feeling kind of bad about not being able to catch my targeted species, until I happened to catch the weather across the country, Then I wasn’t cold anymore nor did I feel quite so bad for myself. Nice to be here for those big storms up there.
