So, 5 O’Clock rolls around. Mike calls me, “Hey, wanna go Striper fishing?”Joey calls me. “Hey you wanna go Striper fishing?” While I am driving to meet them Bill-E calls me on my cell. “Hey wanna go Striper fishing?” Needless to say, everyone had been checking the tides and everyone was thinking the same thing. Good Striper fishing! The outgoing tide came to an end about 6pm and then the tide started rolling in. Like clockwork, the bait washed in and the Striped Bass soon followed. Billy was the first to have a fish on, then Joey. Mike and I walked over to the ocean side of the sandbar and hoped to get some bigger fish. The bigger fish tend to be on the ocean side as opposed to the river side. Third or fourth cast, Mike has a nice fish on. I turn my head, to watch him bring it in and WHAM! A nice fish hits my black clouser. He takes out some line and life is good. The sun is setting, the water is crystal clear, the ocean is calm and all everyone is catching fish. The tide pushes us off the sandbar and we find ourselves back on the beach. Joey’s girlfriend, Amy, is waiting for us. She asks if we caught anything and we tell her that we did. We could tell that she wanted to catch one, so we waded back out into the water a little ways and started fishing. Fish On! We hand her the flyrod and she reels in her first Striped Bass. All in all, a good weeknight. Not too serious of an evening, just kind of relaxing and fun. Just good to be out amongst good people, good weather and good fishing.
