Delaware system fishing

The Delaware system was by far the most technical fishery I’ve ever been to! We had decent hatches the first night, but didn’t fully have it dialed in yet. And I ran a leader system that was just too long and missed six fish. Had a really nice brown on that night, though, but he then proceeded to show me how educated they are in being caught.

Second day we did our first float and High winds and thunderstorms came into play, but there were still some hatches. But everyone we talked to was struggling. Mostly BWO’s size 22 and size 22 black Caddis. From there on out the fishing got progressively worse the next two days with warming temps, warming water, and high sun. Basically shut the hatches down. Even the guides were complaining that the hatches, I guess, have been weird.

By the last day there was hatches but they we’re almost non-existent. But we got a little taste in the beginning of what it could be capable of. Definitely a super cool area to fish.

And I did manage, on the one of the branches, to hook a very large brown trout on a huge black sex dungeon streamer!
