It was a perfect summer day here on the North Platte at least as far as fishing standards are concerned. My grandparents from New Mexico were down visiting and they had brought along my cousin Easton who is my favorite fishing buddy. We always do a float trip when they come and this was going to be one to remember. Easton had never been to the fly shop I work at so we had to make a stop there before heading out. I was wearing my orange Platte River hat and he thought that was pretty cool so I got one for him. So now that we had our matching lucky fishing hats we were ready to hit the river. We were floating the Grayreef to Lusby section and let me be the first to tell you 4 people in a drift boat can be fun. I spent my time between rowing and sitting on the cooler helping Easton real em in. I dont think my granpa ever rowed but why should he? You wouldn’t want to row when you are catching fish after fish. It eventually got so bad he began to call when a fish would hit and most of the time he was right, it was so much fun. My dad and I kept switching on and off rowing and helping net fish. But boy what a blast I had so much fun just watching my cousin catch fish with the biggest smile on his face you can have. Nothing better. I think thats why I would like to become a guide because I love being on the river and helping and seeing people catch fish. The picture says it all! This was the funnest time I have spent flyfishing with my cousin and grandpa and the best part was we were all together. It was the best.
